The Creator of Frogger
Not many people know or understand the origins of frogger, but I did my research and I have some interesting information to share about this frog. When he was first conceived, nobody could have imagined what a spotlight the frogger would take. He as become an icon, even a hero.Frogger was created by a man named Hashido Takami. A japanese programmer who was looking to make an impact on the gaming community with a new character. One based on a simple animal, one which doesn't exactly get lots of attention. He said his inspiration came late one night, as he was driving down a busy highway to the offices where he worked. As he was driving, he saw a frogger try to cross the highway, it was jumping all over the place, avoiding cars and obstacles. Its said he had a vision that day. He imagined the game from top view, with a little frog trying to cross the road without losing his life. A simple concept.
Obviously he made a good decision, and was lucky he spotted the frog that day, because the frogger has only grown in popularity and developed somewhat of a cult following, especially when the game was first released. Have you ever seen that seinfeld episode which was dedicated to the frogger? It involves George buying an arcade machine and trying to cross the road safely.
I've noticed that many people don't talk about how difficult the video game to complete, as the frogger faces many obstacles and challenges along the way. Basically you can never really finish the game, its all about collecting as many points as possible by staying alive and crossing many roads. Long live the frog!
