The History of Frogger
Many adults hear the word frogger and it triggers a memory. Most people have heard of the series. This video game was first released back in 1981, developed by the gaming company in japan known as Konami. It revolutionized the entertainment business and made quite the impact, not only on culture but also in the programming realm. One of the most popular tv shows of all time seinfeld even featured an episode based around the game. Its still regarded today as a true classic, and its popularity continues even today, almost 30 years later. New more advanced versions of the frogger games have been developed and include new levels, obstacles, music, and of course updated graphics. Come on, you mean its not still the classic 8 bit version released on the atari console? I must admit though, looking at the picture above it does look awesome.
The Life of a Frog
Anyways the whole purpose of the game is basically getting a frog to cross a busy street, without getting run over by the varies cars, trucks, bulldozers, bikes, anything which kills the poor frog and ends the game. I have a joke: Why did the frog cross the road? To win the game. Not only do you have to avoid the hazards, but also collect bonus items on the journey across the arcade screen. The longer you survive, the more points you collect and the higher a score you achieve. In the popular seinfeld episode, george had the highest score in frogger and wanted to keep it that way!The player will usually start with between 3 and seven lives, depending on the version your playing. These days its hard to find the original full sized arcade machines with the joysticks and classic midi sound.
Check out this classic little console which became available in the 1980s. It was so popular in the arcades that Konami decided to release a smaller, more compact home arcade version. The obstacles you will face include cars, trucks, bikes, alligators, turtles, everything. You need to guide your frog to his home, and within a fairly short time limit. The controls were using a joystick, but now you can use your mouse when playing the version online.

The music featured is actually from a japanese childrens show, which is comical. You gotta love that classic midi music featured in all the older games. Its on the same level as titles like tetris and pacman. Because of its positive reviews in the entertainment arena, comics, movies, and a whole pile of merchandising has been developed to satisfy gamers across the globe.
